The STT introduced a new e-learning platform

Today, the Special Investigation Service (STT) introduced a new e-learning platform for anti-corruption education developed in cooperation with the Polish Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA). All who wish are invited to use the platform, and those who successfully complete the training topics are awarded certificates. By presenting this initiative, the Service seeks to contribute to increasing the anti-corruption awareness of civil servants and the public and reducing the extent of corruption in Lithuania. The presentation of the e-learning platform was directly watched by about 1,000 people.

‘We are pleased to see such an interest not in a specific anti-corruption topic, but in a tool that can help comprehensively to create a transparent environment in institutions. In Lithuania, we are already consistently moving towards taking the initiative to create a transparent environment and take care of corruption prevention by the institutions themselves, so the presented e-learning platform of the STT is an additional tool for them, which we hope will become a mandatory tool. By integrating it into a common sequence of processes, the creation of a transparent environment will be easier, simpler and more diverse,’ – Žydrūnas Bartkus, the Director of the STT, spoke at the presentation of the e-learning platform.

‘Corruption offences have no borders, therefore international cooperation, which does not limit only to the fight against corruption, is crucial for the countries, and the corruption prevention potential should be systematically increased. During the pandemic, distance learning became even more important, so we are very happy to be able to share our experience and patented learning platform. I would like to congratulate the STT, you have implemented this project in Lithuania quickly and efficiently,’ – Daniel Karpeta, the Deputy Head of the CBA, spoke.

In order to create an anti-corruption environment in institutions, establishments and undertakings, it is very important to pay sufficient attention to anti-corruption education, which helps to develop civic awareness in every member of society, to form provisions on transparency. The Service invites civil servants and anyone interested in creating an anti-corruption environment to use this tool. Professionally selected training material of anti-corruption education allows everyone to delve into different topics on their own. The e-learning platform starts with eight topics: the concept of corruption, criminal acts of a corruptive nature, conflicts of interest, gift policy, whistleblower protection, and corruption risks in the healthcare sector etc. The list and content of the topics will be constantly updated.
