The sixth Steering Committee Meeting of the EU Twinning Project was held in Jordan

Amman – The sixth Steering Committee Meeting of the EU Twinning Project ‘Support the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission in the Fields of Integrity and Corruption Prevention’ was held on the 6th of September 2022 at the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC).

The meeting was attended by the Lithuanian Member state led by Mr. Jovitas Raškevičius, First deputy director of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (STT), representatives from JIACC headed by H.E Mr. Sami Al Salaita, the national project leader and JIACC’s board member, with the active participation of EU Delegation to Jordan representatives and Contracting Authority, The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC), where they discussed the project progress and milestones achieved in the last three months. Furthermore, they discussed the project Workplan for the next three months, approving training topics, study visits, and missions until the end of project.

During the meeting, it was discussed what had been accomplished, the lessons learned and the prospects for the future. H.E Salaita thanked the Lithuanian member state, European Union and MoPIC for their continuous support in facilitating the implementation processes of the project. He added that all missions and activities have been implemented as planned, and JIACC is activating and reflecting the outcomes to suit the JIACC experience to be used efficiently though their internal system and to be used by different and various MDAs and state-owned companies.

Following his remarks, Mr. Raškevičius emphasized that together with the JIACC, the project managed to achieve milestones and the planned outcomes, and succussed in overcoming challenges. He also stressed out that all activities were and will aim at giving the best benefit for the JIACC in accordance to the EU best practices and adapting to the Jordanian context.

The EU Twinning Project is financed by the European Union for a total amount of €1,5 million and aims to support national institutional efforts in Jordan to strengthen Integrity and Corruption Prevention. It is implemented by Member states of Lithuania and Austria, in cooperation with the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC).
