As part of a pre-trial investigation into suspected illicit enrichment and abuse of office, Member of the Lithuanian Parliament Gintautas Paluckas was today formally notified of suspicions of illicit enrichment.
The large-scale pre-trial investigation, launched in 2025, is being led, organised and coordinated by the Prosecutor General’s Office and conducted by the Special Investigation Service (STT).
The information gathered by STT officers provides reasonable grounds to suspect that, together with his spouse, G. Paluckas acquired and jointly owned property with a total value of EUR 344,578.60 between late 2010 and late 2024, using funds of unknown origin that could not be substantiated by lawfully obtained income and, allegedly, through sham transactions. The value of the property exceeded 900 MGL. It is suspected that G. Paluckas acquired the property knowing that it could not have been purchased using lawfully obtained income.
At present, two individuals have been formally notified of suspicions in this pre-trial investigation.
On 7 May 2026, the Lithuanian Parliament, following a submission by Prosecutor General Nida Grunskienė, lifted G. Paluckas’s parliamentary immunity.
In accordance with the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by law and convicted by a final court judgment.
