On 20 October 2022, STT delegation headed by Mr Žydrūnas BARTKUS, Director of the Special Investigation Service (STT) of the Republic of Lithuania participated at the high-level regional anti-corruption seminar in Sigulda, Latvia. This was already the fifth high-level meeting of anticorruption authorities from Baltic region to discuss common challenges and solutions in combating corruption and enhancing regional cooperation.
During this seminar, great attention was paid to the impact of the Russian aggression against Ukraine on the activities of anticorruption authorities, mutual cooperation, and the growing partnership between the public and private sectors. Also, challenges and best practices in detecting and investigating cases of illicit enrichment and foreign bribery were discussed.
"Cooperation and exchange of best practices between the institutions of neighbouring countries are very important. Challenges arising in the region are often similar, thus, cooperation between all four countries allow us to operate more efficiently in the context of crisis and emerging challenges", said STT director Žydrūnas Bartkus.
The seminar was also attended by the Heads of the Latvian Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) , the Estonian Internal Security Service (KAPO), the Corruption Crimes Bureau of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board and the Polish Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA).
