An assessment study on the Jordanian National Integrity Standards developed under the EU funded Twinning project in Jordan implemented by the Lithuanian STT.
Under a European Union-funded Twinning Project with the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC), an assessment study on the National Integrity Standards was recently finalised by the team of Lithuanian and Austrian experts, led by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (STT). The assessment will feed into the development of a methodology to support the implementation of Jordan's National Strategy for Integrity and Anti-Corruption 2020-2025, in particular, one of its strategic objectives; the activation of the Code of National Integrity and the consolidation of the integrity principles and standards in order to create an anti-corruption national environment.
The assessment study was developed by the team members based on the information collected about the current use of National Integrity Standards, understanding the needs and priorities of JIACC, and analysing available background information about public sector legislation, regulations, and practices. The study was presented to the JIACC board and specialists focusing on the recommendations and best practices from the EU, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and other international organizations, as well as applied practices from Lithuania, Austria, Germany and the other EU Member States, and recommendations to improve the NIS, as well as to make the implementation and monitoring process more effective to ensure sustainability.
Through this project, experts will continue to engage and to assist in further developing the Jordanian National Integrity Standards and its monitoring mechanism, as well as, in implementing other recommendations to ensure a successful transfer of knowledge.
The EU Twinning Project titled ‘Support the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission in the Fields of Integrity and Corruption Prevention’ is financed by the EU for a total amount of €1,5 million and aims to support national institutional efforts in Jordan to strengthen Integrity and Corruption Prevention.
